OS2200 Mainframe Production Control - Albany, NY

What success looks like in this role:

• Monitor and control OS 2200 computer and peripheral equipment.
• Respond to OS 2200 operating and error messages.
• Enter OS 2200 commands and set controls on OS 2200 computer and peripheral devices.
• Support OS 2200 production control of large-scale computer systems, including job scheduling, job fixing, and automated job control languages.
• Operate automated equipment such as tape libraries, large-scale printers, and other automated equipment.
• Operate large-scale computer systems, including print, tape, and console operations.
• Monitor and control the operation of mainframe hardware and software.
• Start and stop system tasks as required.
• Monitor system consoles for unusual conditions and respond appropriately.
• Ensure the health and normal operation of the systems by working closely with system programming and production control staff.
• Develop and implement automation solutions for day-to-day operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and streamline processes.
• Utilize scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, ECL, SSG, Operations Sentinel) to automate repetitive tasks and workflows.
• Maintain and update automation scripts and tools to ensure they meet current operational needs.
• Monitor and analyze system performance to identify areas for further automation and optimization.
• Provide training and support to team members on the use of automation tools and best practices.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Knowledge of OpCon job scheduler.
• Knowledge of OS 2200 ECL.
• Experience with mainframe operating systems and environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, Puppet).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, ECL, SSG, Operations Sentinel, or Bash.
• Understanding of process automation and workflow optimization.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Ability to analyze and document business processes for automation.
• Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools.
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools.
• Experience with database management and SQL.
• Knowledge of network protocols and security best practices.

Salary Range: $99,000 - $115,000.
