Position Overview Pep Boys is seeking a Store Design Coordinator to support the Store Design & Construction Team in executing high-quality, brand-consistent retail environments across our national portfolio. This role serves as the first point of contact for store design-related inquiries from Operations, Real Estate, Facilities, and external partners, ensuring effective communication and streamlined project coordination. Additionally, the Store Design Coordinator will provide direct support to the Architectural Design Manager, who oversees store layouts and footprints, and the Interior Designer, who manages materials, finishes, and the overall customer experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of retail store design, project coordination, and stakeholder communication while ensuring seamless collaboration between departments. Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Communication & Support
- Serve as the first touchpoint for store design-related inquiries from Operations, Real Estate, Facilities, and external stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the Operations team and Store Design team to ensure requests, concerns, and feedback are captured and addressed efficiently.
- Manage incoming design-related inquiries, track requests, and escalate issues as needed.
- Distribute and maintain store design guidelines, standards, and updates for internal teams.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to facilitate design discussions and site-related questions
- Support for the Architectural Design Manager
- Assist in soliciting and tracking approvals from all internal stakeholders required for project scope development
- Maintain design documentation, CAD drawings, and prototype guidelines.
- Track site surveys, space planning, and footprint optimizations to improve efficiency in store design.
- Support for the Interior Designer
- Assist in vendor management - requesting and tracking samples, maintaining a strong vendor base, invoice and payment tracking, etc.
- Organize and manage specification libraries for finishes, furniture, and fixtures.
- Support the development of mood boards, renderings, and presentations to communicate design intent.
- Help collect and analyze customer and operations feedback to enhance store aesthetics and functionality.
- Project Coordination & Documentation
- Organize and maintain all design documentation, including floor plans, finish schedules, and vendor specifications.
- Support the team in timeline management, meeting coordination, and reporting.
- Schedule and coordinate design review meetings, site visits, and field assessments.
- Process Improvement & Efficiency
- Develop and maintain a centralized database of design standards, material selections, and project documentation.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows between the Store Design team and Construction, Operations, and Facilities.
- Assist in the adoption of new technology and tools for design tracking, project management, and real-time collaboration.
Education and Experience
- 2+ years of experience in store design, architecture, construction coordination, or project management required.
- Strong understanding of retail or commercial interior design and construction processes.
- Knowledge of construction processes, permitting, and facility planning preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
- Ability to interpret floor plans, design drawings, and material specifications.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills to engage with cross-functional teams.
