Job Description

Position Summary:

As a Senior Project Engineer for the Stratix team, you will be responsible for guiding and directing the engineering team on delivering cross system/functional projects. You will be involved in the planning and execution of complex engineering projects, overseeing multiple project aspects, from design to development, testing and resolving technical problems, providing leadership and direction to other engineering teams.

This Senior Role will provide you with the opportunity to serve as an important Test Resource specializing in ethernet networking, Rockwell/Cisco Networking Technology and Industrial IoT Networks for Rockwell Automation. You will focus on bringing Connected Enterprise to life through rigorous design and execution of tests that validate, and stress Industrial networks built using Rockwell/Cisco Technology. You will be a key player in ensuring that developed products are robust, defect-free, meet performance requirements, and are within total quality management standards.

You will report to the Test Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform routine system testing utilizing existing test collateral and test cases. Report any issues identified and documenting test results for follow-up. Work with the development team to characterize any issues found.
  • Develop new test collateral and test cases in response to new product or system requirements
  • Develop knowledge of system testing practices.
  • Seek and improve knowledge of system test development processes.
  • Evaluate, challenge, and research possible solutions by looking for input from subject matter experts to ensure fact-based recommendations and decisions are being made during all phases of product development.
  • Establish a timeline for assigned tasks/projects and is able to report progress.
  • Can use test tools and methods to ensure full system test coverage is attained.
  • Conduct informal presentations to small groups regarding specific technical topics.
  • Stay current and be conversant with the latest networking technologies, industry trends and IT/OT best practices.
  • Demonstrate curiosity in new technologies & products that could contribute to the Rockwell network offerings. Always developing new skills and refining existing skills.
  • Summarize and document Test outcomes.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires 12+ years of Network/Test Engineering experience.
  • Capability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
  • Comprehensive experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network implementations.
  • Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting testbeds and test cases.
  • Expert-level technical background in High-complexity Networking solutions and implementation strategies and understanding of IT and OT convergence.
  • Proven track record, over multiple projects, in a team setting, of directing and leading a team to success.
  • Background in Test, specifically in testing of ethernet networks and testbed design for ethernet networks.
  • Ability to quantify time & resources necessary to accomplish work outputs.
  • Experience with network technologies including (STP, VLANs, DTP, VTP, IGMP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, Flex links, ACLs, DLR, PRP, HSR, MRP...)
  • Experience with Cisco IE/Stratix networking switches and routers.
  • You have or be able to quickly obtain professional and expert level Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE...) to prove mastery in Cisco technologies.
  • Experience with Network management software and network diagnostics and utilities.
  • Experience in Software or Product Development is a huge plus.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley control products.
  • Experience in Technical Leadership in a team environment.
