Compensation

Salary Range: $21.75 - $27.50 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently than Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Part-Time positions. PRN Rates depend on the position and other factors, including years of experience, or shift commitment according to the department policy. PRN differential is added in certain positions.



Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The Sitter/CNA Float Resources provides safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care for patients who require a sitter while in the hospital, including constant observation, under the direction of a Licensed Nurse and/or Medical Staff.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

    Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification
  • One (1) year of experience working as a Nurse Tech or CNA in an acute care environment or skilled nursing facility (SNF)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains constant observation of the patient to ensure safety.
  2. Provides patient care within scope of practice, promptly meeting patient needs.
  3. Redirects the patient as needed and appropriate.
  4. Promptly reports changes in condition or other concerns to the primary care nurse.
  5. When the patient is ambulatory, remains with them and uses a gait belt as applicable.
  6. When the patient is in the bathroom, remains nearby to monitor safety unless otherwise directed by the primary care nurse.
  7. When sitting with a suicidal patient, maintains constant visual observation, including when the patient is in the bathroom or when family members are present.
  8. Maintains a neat and calm environment to promote patient comfort.
  9. Ensures the patient does not have access to items that could cause harm (e.g., butter knife, glass).
  10. Documents activities accurately and in a timely manner to support quality patient care.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
