Overview

Element Materials Technology is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive growth for our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Lab. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and positioning Element as a trusted partner for NDT services across key industries, including aerospace, energy, automotive, and manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in NDT services, materials testing, or related technical sales, with the ability to engage customers at multiple levels-procurement, engineering, quality, and operations. This is a high-impact role requiring a combination of strategic thinking, relationship-building, and hands-on execution to accelerate revenue growth.



Responsibilities

    Drive Revenue Growth - Develop and execute a sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue targets for the NDT lab.
  • Customer Acquisition & Expansion - Identify new business opportunities and expand relationships with existing customers by understanding their NDT testing needs.
  • Technical Sales Engagement - Communicate Element's NDT capabilities, value proposition, and competitive advantages to technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Market Development - Research and analyze industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Pipeline & Opportunity Management - Maintain an active sales pipeline, prioritize high-value opportunities, and drive opportunities from lead to close using CRM tools.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Selling - Work closely with operations, technical teams, and other sales functions to provide comprehensive testing solutions for clients.
  • Account Management & Retention - Develop long-term partnerships by ensuring client satisfaction, handling escalations, and driving repeat business.
  • Industry Representation - Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to represent Element and build strategic partnerships.


Skills / Qualifications

  • 10 years of Technical experience with Sales responsibilities

  • Bachelors of Science in Material Sciences preferred but other four year degree will be considered

  • Testing, metallurgical or composites experience a plus

  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Dynamics AX and CRM, Word, Excel)
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events / projects in the community, with customers and within the company
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
  • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
  • Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time; some overnight travel may be required
