SAH Student Nursing Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

*The Student nursing assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care under the direction of a RN/ Clinical Leader. Duties include but are not limited to vital signs transferring of patients make occupied and unoccupied beds measuring of intake and output and other related duties as assigned. Trained responsible individual who functions in a complementary or assistive role to a qualified licensed nurse in providing direct patient care or carrying out common nursing assistant functions for which he/ she has documented competencies for proper performance of the task. Assists with activities to assist the patient in meeting basic human needs including but not limited to nutrition hydration mobility comfort elimination socialization rest and hygiene. Collects reports and documents simple data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients families visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional responsible and courteous environment.

1. Commits to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).

2. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures values beliefs and ages utilizing interpreters when needed.

*Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

*Customer service

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

I.Education: Currently enrolled and attending high school with eligibility to obtain high school diploma within two years of hire.

II.Experience: Clinical experience in a hospital long-term care or rehabilitation setting preferred.

III.Certification/Licensure: Current MA CNA certification and BLS required

IV.Software/Hardware:

V.Other: Student must be a minimum of 16 years of age with a valid work permit. No one under 18 may work past 8 p.m. without direct on-site adult supervision and may not start their shift prior to 6am. In addition the student cannot work more than 9 hours per day 48 hours per week or more than 6 days per week. The student is restricted from performing a single person lift. Massachusetts work hours restrictions for minors and child labor laws will continuously be monitored to ensure compliance.
