Job Summary:

We are seeking a Sr Accounting Manager to oversee all finance operations, invoicing, credit management, and financial reporting across our client's commodities fuel business and energy services/specialty chemical business. This role requires expertise in physical commodity trading, hedging, and financial controls to ensure accurate deal recording, invoicing, reconciliation, and reporting across multiple terminal locations and transport modes.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Oversee end-to-end invoicing across multiple fuel terminals, storage facilities, and product lines, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Ensure pricing structures are recorded correctly, including hedged positions, spot pricing, and long-term contracts.
  • Implement automated invoicing workflows, ensuring invoices are generated with Bill of Lading (BOL) documentation automatically attached.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring all reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries are properly recorded.
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
  • Reconcile inventory, revenue, and cost of goods sold (COGS), ensuring proper tracking of fuel and chemical products.
  • Ensure hedged positions are properly accounted for in financial statements.
  • Lead the implementation of a finance, accounting, and invoicing system that will centralize:
  • Deal tracking by customer, product, terminal location, and hedge position.
  • Automated invoicing and BOL integration for seamless transaction management.
  • Manage and develop a finance and accounting team of 4, overseeing all invoicing, credit, month-end close, and reporting activities.
  • Work closely with trading, logistics, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure financial transparency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams to ensure financial and regulatory compliance.


Qualifications & Experience:



  • 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in physical commodity trading (fuel, energy, or specialty chemicals preferred).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, commodity accounting, and financial reporting standards.
  • Expertise in hedging, pricing structures, and risk management in commodity markets.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, financial reconciliations, and P&L reporting.
  • Strong background in credit management, invoicing automation, and financial controls.
  • Experience working with logistics-heavy businesses, particularly truck and rail distribution.
  • Proven track record of implementing and optimizing financial systems/ERP software.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a finance team.
