ASSISTANT PLANT CONTROLLER

MCCALLA, ALABAMA - MCCALLA PLANT

As a member of the finance team, the Assistant Plant Controller will be responsible forassisting with the financial operations for the McCalla, AL foam plant. This includes helping to oversee the day-to-day finance operations and to provide plant operational management with financial feedback. Other routine duties include month end; expenditure management; Quarterly SOX testing; financial systems management; financial operations & analysis and ensuring strong financial internal controls are in place.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:



  • Financial operations & analysis - including assisting with the weekly flash report; maintaining accruals; overseeing and posting wall-to-wall physical inventory events (semi-annual basis) assisting the plant controller with all balance sheet reviews & financial operation audits.
  • Expenditure management - Approve & log all plant credit card purchases; approve non-prod purchasing requests in the Coupa system; plan for and analyze capital expenditures.
  • Month-end/ Quarter end closing process - Assist in the month-end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation; Prepare and review monthly overhead expenditure with Budget Holders; Preparation and processing of various journals; Margin analysis and Sales reconciliation; Fixed Asset reconciliation between GL and Fixed Asset software and reporting to Corporate Finance; Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations in accordance with SOX requirements; prepare, review and upload Standard Costs; Ad hoc analysis as requested by Financial Controller; Reconciliation and review of the local ledger (SAP) vs. Corporate Reporting system (HFM)
  • Other Duties -To review, improve, and document processes within the area of responsibility; assist with semi-annual Stock take including preparation of files and results upload; assist with quarterly Corporate reporting; Regular BOM analysis and review/update of Sales and Purchase prices; Help with managing files and producing information for internal and external audits; Monitor capital expenditures and associated depreciation as well as asset tagging; Assist with quarterly SOX testing; Preparation of management reports to include forecast - v - actual; Assist the Plant Controller in all aspects of LRP, budget, and short-term forecast preparation.
  • Financial management systems: ensure the timely entry and integrity of financial data in Lear's various financial reporting systems (PPR, PSR, OIP, HFM, etc.); running all reports from Peoplesoft-AP, Peoplesoft Payroll, SAP, LCIS, Coupa, Concur, FAS, Warrior, Manage path, etc. as needed to complete financial tasks; management of the Coupa portal (spend period setup, new user approvals at appropriate access levels, cost center development, etc.) & manage the fixed asset system (FAS)
  • Internal Controls: Ensure plant compliance with all company internal controls as specified by the LEAP manual; ensure the accuracy of all pricing and costing in SAP; review current inventory costs and roll standards as necessary; oversee the cycle counting process; complete required user review for Lear's various systems and ensure proper segregation of duties; ensure & certify SOX testing is completed each quarter and is compliant with relevant policies, procedures and GAAP accounting standards.

Your Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Finance
  • 3-5 years of plant finance experience
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with accurate results.
