As the HSFTIC Audit Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting NASA's human spaceflight programs, including the Gateway Program, Orion Program, Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development Program (CLDP), Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP), International Space Station (ISS) Program, and more. You will work closely with various NASA teams, providing expertise in audit processes, technical coordination, and process improvement to help ensure the success of NASA's human spaceflight missions.
This role offers the unique opportunity to gain valuable programmatic insight into human spaceflight programs, supporting NASA's mission to expand humanity's presence in space, particularly on the Moon and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Support & Management: Lead the Gateway Program in responding to audit requests from organizations such as the Government Accountability Office (GAO), Office of Inspector General (OIG), and other government entities, as well as responding to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
- Audit Liaison: Serve as the Gateway Audit focal point, liaising with various NASA Projects and Centers across the country to build and integrate cohesive responses to complex audit questions.
- Technical Integration & Response: Collaborate with technical entities across the Gateway Program to ensure audit responses are accurate and complete, building consensus on responses to technical comments and issues raised during audits.
- Coordination & Project Management: Use project management principles to coordinate with Gateway management and NASA Headquarters, ensuring alignment of audit responses with Agency objectives and priorities.
- Audit Meeting Coordination: Organize and manage Gateway Program participation in standing and one-off audit meetings, tracking assigned actions and ensuring timely follow-up.
- Action Tracking & Closure: Drive closure of actions across the Gateway Program related to ongoing audits, including facilitating data and meeting requests.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and streamline the audit response process.
- Statement of Assurance: Coordinate and develop the Gateway Program's annual response to the NASA Statement of Assurance.
- Status Reporting: Maintain and update internal trackers using Microsoft tools to keep senior management informed on the status of audit activities.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth execution of audit-related tasks.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, or Technology from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in audit management, project management, or related field.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the audit life cycle and government or technical industry audit processes
- Proficiency in project management and integration principles.
- Strong ability to understand and communicate technical concepts, including their impact on cost and schedule.
- Proven experience working with and presenting to senior management.
- Experience in driving innovation or process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various customers and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Math, Science, or Technology.
- Experience: At least seven (7) years of relevant experience.
- Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with NASA Human Space Exploration programs and space station modules.
- Experience using collaborative tools such as SharePoint, Atlassian products, or Wiki environments.
- Knowledge of ISO9000 standards.
Essential Functions and Requirements:
- Citizenship & Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship is required. Must successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based, but some work may be required in test facilities or other installations.
- Regular attendance on site at at Johnson Space Center (JSC) and flexibility in working hours to meet project requirements.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to other installations as required.
- Teamwork: Must be able to collaborate effectively in a team environment, maintaining professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
