Senior Technical Designer - Workwear and Heated Gear

Milwaukee Tool?is currently seeking a?Temporary Senior Technical Designer?to join our?Apparel Development Team?at our downtown office in Milwaukee, WI. In this key role, you will focus on developing Men's and Women's Workwear and Heated Gear garments. You will be supported by the Apparel Design and Development Manager as well as a Technical Design Assistant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Apparel Design Team and PM to deliver the seasonal product roadmap.

  • Understand end-user needs and translate them into actionable solutions.

  • Adhere to the seasonal Design and Development calendar, ensuring approvals, documentation, and clear communication with all suppliers and partners.

  • Communicate daily with suppliers regarding sample requests, troubleshooting, and tracking arrivals of submissions.

  • Work alongside Creative Designers to execute designs into finished products.

  • Produce accurate Tech Packs, including sketch details, base size specifications, and graded measurements.

  • Communicate design intent and provide clear fit and construction comments to manufacturing partners.

  • Attend cross-functional development meetings, report on design status, and ensure all development-related requirements are addressed.

  • Drive internal rapid prototyping.

  • Measure fit and pre-production samples, and record measurements.

  • Conduct fit sessions on live models or fit forms.

  • Own the fit approval of production samples for quality, accuracy, and adherence to the design intent.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in apparel technical design or development.

  • Experience in developing garments with a broad range of materials, garment construction, and patternmaking.

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design or Fashion Design.

  • Experience in workwear is desired but not required.

  • Proficiency in Adobe CS suite of products is preferred.

  • Experience with Optitex or similar apparel design software is preferred but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop collaborative relationships.

  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to be candid.

  • Passion for our brand, end-users, and innovation.

  • A sense of speed and urgency, with the agility to respond to the ever-changing landscape of product development.
