Overview

Therapy technicians are vitally important to providing a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients and staff. The therapy technician is highly responsible for clinic throughput. They pick up equipment and toys used in therapy sessions, sanitize them, and return them to the appropriate location. The therapy technician may assist with set up for patient treatment or perform a variety of assigned clerical tasks. Sometimes, the therapy technician may serve as an extra set of hands in patient care activities as requested and under the direct supervision of a licensed professional. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, functional mobility training, strengthening, and ROM exercises and activities of daily living.


Responsibilities
  • *Performs clerical duties for therapists and staff (e.g., faxing, scanning, copying, activity creation, filing)

    *Assists with the preparation and cleaning of equipment and treatment area

    *Coordinates maintenance requests and maintains all departmental equipment

    *Assists with transportation of patients as needed

    *Orders supplies for the department

    *If needed, under the direct supervision of a licensed therapy professional, the therapy technician may assist with treatment such as: exercise, gait, ADLs, adaptive equipment, therapeutic exercise, and communication


Qualifications

Education: At least 16 years of age. Must read, write, speak and comprehend English. Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds. Basic computer knowledge and skills preferred. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Passion to serve people. One year experience in a medical setting preferred or experience as a therapy aide/tech/volunteer or current enrollment in a PT/OT/ST program.

License(s)/Certification(s): BLS preferred.
