Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Jacksonville, FL (Fully Onsite)

Vaco Staffing is looking for a Staff Accountant for a large construction client in Jacksonville. In this role, you will be responsible for applying accounting principles and business intelligence to ensure the accurate preparation, analysis, and maintenance of the company's financial performance. You will work closely with management to support financial decision-making and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Close Out: Prepare and manage the monthly close-out schedule, ensuring timely notifications to divisional managers about deadlines.
  • Financial Statement Closings: Perform monthly and annual financial statement closings with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Projection Verification: Coordinate with management to confirm the accuracy of projections reflected in the Work In Progress (WIP) schedule.
  • Job Completion Calculation: Calculate the percentage of completion for all jobs within the Financial & Operations (F&O) system.
  • Report Generation: Run and analyze monthly reports required for financial statements and provide insights as needed.
  • Lease Schedule Maintenance: Maintain and update the company's lease schedule.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare divisional and total company financial statements in a timely manner.
  • Special Projects: Undertake special projects and impromptu reporting tasks as requested by management.
  • General Accounting Functions: Handle general accounting functions for small companies, including payables, receivables, deposits, journal entries (JEs), and financial reporting.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Prepare and review month-end balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Accrual Preparation: Prepare and review monthly accruals as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience and/or training in accounting or finance
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communication: Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism: High level of professionalism, ethics, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Salary: $65,000-$90,000 (based on experience)

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco notes the salary range for the role as follows: $65,000-$90,000 (based on experience). The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
