Department:ICE | CASL Cancer Administration Team BDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Commission on Cancer (CoC) Coordinator / Cancer Registrar plays a crucial role in ensuring the hospital or healthcare organization maintains its CoC accreditation by managing all related administrative, quality assurance, data abstraction, and reporting activities. This position is central to coordinating the various functions required for compliance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and CoC standards, as well as ensuring that patient data is accurately collected, documented, and reported in alignment with national and state regulations. Qualifications:Associates Degree in Health Information Management or related field. 4 years' experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar working in Cancer Registry at a Commission on Cancer accredited healthcare facility. Current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) / ODS Oncology Data Specialist - Certified credential from National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) Experience with writing / submitting the initial CoC survey and ongoing applications for re-accreditation of CoC cycle. Knowledge of principles and practices of cancer registry and medical records policies and procedures. Knowledge of indexing, classification and staging systems. Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology pertaining to cancer processes. Database management skills, especially in abstracting and coding cancer related data from medical records and laboratory reports that are computerized. Knowledge of report writing. Ability to read and follow written policies, instructions, and regulatory compliance standards. Ability to analyze information and mentally track multiple situations. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Good interpersonal skills Experience using Cancer Registry software such as CRStar for abstracting and developing reports. Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams Prefer RHIA, RHIT, CPC or CCS Additional Information: Responsibilities:
