PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $184,300.00-$225,000.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $143,000.00 - $266,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. As a Principal Software Developer at BECU, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital experiences. Your expertise will drive the development of cutting-edge solutions that enhance the experiences of our members. You will lead the technical design of innovative solutions, mentor development teams, and collaborate across the organization to elevate BECU's digital presence. To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you're located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead Strategic Solution Design: Collaborate with business leaders to design and implement enterprise-level software solutions that position BECU at the forefront of the industry.
  • Innovate & Elevate Technology Standards: Drive the adoption of modern development best practices, ensuring high code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with architects, product managers, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Develop & Optimize CMS Solutions: Lead the technical direction for BECU's content management system (CMS), ensuring an optimized and seamless digital experience for members.
  • Mentor & Inspire: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software developers, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Champion Agile & DevOps Practices: Implement and advocate for Agile development methodologies and DevOps processes to enhance efficiency and software delivery speed.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Maintain an active presence in the software development community, ensuring BECU remains innovative and competitive.
  • Ensure Security & Compliance: Uphold secure development best practices, ensuring our systems align with industry regulations and security standards.
  • Solve Complex Technical Challenges: Act as a consultant and problem-solver, tackling highly complex defects and optimizing system performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in information technology, with demonstrated expertise in application design.
  • Experience with Financial products, i.e., Mortgage, Loan, Credit Card, Deposits, etc. required.
  • Expertise with Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, Brightspot, Contentful, or similar CMS platforms.
  • Proven ability to design and implement solutions using .NET, C#, Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, etc.).
  • Experience in API design, implementation, and integration.
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Expertise in secure software development and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with business leaders, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience leading large-scale enterprise technology projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, as well as containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven ability to mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.
  • Solution Architect or Cloud Developer certifications (Azure, AWS, etc.) are a plus.
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects or maintaining a technical blog.
