The Sr Product Manager, Platform is the credible voice of the business, voice of the customer, change owner, and strategic stakeholder, owner, and facilitator for the Platform product development and operations. The individual in this role will be responsible for steering product development and operations through focus on customer value and will be the respected and valued servant leader of the platform's customers. A successful Product Manager will ensure happy, engaged, and informed stakeholders, positive improvement in business practice and business change around customer engagement, and the delivery of customer and business benefits through well-used working software. The Sr Product Manager collaborates with the Product Leadership to ensure alignment of enterprise projects, technology, and data strategy.
The individual in this role will be working on a cross-functional team with engineering and design professionals who all share the same focus: learning from our internal and external customers and using that knowledge to decide what problems to solve and how to solve them. Therefore, we look for practitioners who are experienced, good at understanding people, and are driven by the love creating value for end-user. A Sr. Platform Product Manager (PM) is responsible for supporting a variety of product lines. Platform PM's face irreconcilable dependencies and must advocate for a cross-product vision, rather than a single vision.


  • Very strong leadership, decision-making, and collaboration skills including the ability to gather organize, share and orient multiple groups around an objective.
  • Expert level accuracy in predicting how users will react to a product or feature, and understanding what will drive success.
  • Expert grasp of the market, technology, and business context.
  • Insatiable natural curiosity and robust and intuitive user empathy.
  • Expert level ability to clearly articulate product strategy, clearly communicating the connection between vision, strategy, objectives, and roadmap while managing business partners' expectations accordingly.
  • Consistently demonstrates thoughtful, well documented, evidence-based decisions.
  • Expertise in cost/benefit analysis and preparing a lean business case.
  • Expert level ability to derive realistic product targets / KPIs.
  • Expertise and current use of product frameworks and tools.


Duties:

Product Platform Team Management and Operations (70%)



  • Collaborate, partner, and coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, QA, and product leadership) to streamline product features and enhance business processes.
  • Support any other activities / duties to help achieve business objectives.
  • Manage maintenance and prioritization of product backlog, ensuring transparent, well aligned & justified prioritization within your area of responsibility.
  • Guide team through selecting, crafting, and validating effective solutions for problems (with help for complex problems).
  • Key participant in daily scrum meetings, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Attend Scrum Ceremonies, and be seen as a respectful and willing servant leader of the development team alongside the product team. Scrums are informed and directed by business value.
  • Coordinate, communicate and lead major product releases and minimum viable product (MVP) and go-to-market (GTM) working closely with product marketing and business development teams.
  • Create, prioritize, socialize, and manage (in collaboration with product team and business stakeholders) the Product Backlog.
  • Develop stakeholder-agreed prioritization criteria for development, and the collaboratively apply these to the Product Backlog.
  • Plan releases (in close collaboration with the product team), and communicate release plans to appropriate business stakeholders.
  • Takes responsibility for the quality of the product for end-users, and of quality / UA testing with users.
  • Takes responsibility for customer testing, design testing, and UI / UX processes to ensure that the customer view is always front and center, especially with regards to the production of new communications, templates, and customer journeys.

Product Platform Strategy (30%)



  • Develop a clear Platform Product Vision, Strategy, Objectives & Roadmap.
  • Ensure business partners and stakeholders know the Product Vision, Strategy, Objectives & Roadmap for Platform Product.
  • Business partners and stakeholders receive regular communications from Product Manager of the Product Roadmap, updates and releases ensuring transparency.
  • Create and align business partners and cross-functional teams on product vision and strategy.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market (GTM) strategies connecting features to product marketing.
  • Align decisions with user needs, business, goals, and technical feasibility. Understand deeper meaning in customer needs and how solve those needs in a way that works for the business.
  • Lead business partner engagements to analyze the value proposition of business requests and provide alternative solutions, as needed to ensure we stay consistently focused on the product strategy.
  • Business partners and stakeholders are aware of the cost/benefit of the platform product, its required investment and business outcomes with clear product targets / KPI's.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience with Data Platform Products (any combination of Data Engineering, Product Management or Platforms), including a combination of product management or technical work.
  • 5+ Years of at least one programming language (Python, Java, SQL, Go, Node).
  • Proven track record of successful product launches and market adoption.

Education:
BA/BS in computer science, Information Technology, Business or a related field
MBA/MS or a related field preferred
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in related field may be substituted
Compensation:
As this is a fully remote position within the United States we do consider your location as part of the equation using the cost of labor index in your area.
$125,000 - $153,000.
