Essential Job Duties |
The Very Berry Lab is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to join our
lab, which specializes in small fruit production. This position is to assist in tasks directly related
to viticulture pest and disease management research. There will be opportunities to learn and
assist in strawberry production, greenhouse maintenance, and extension. As a lab/field
technician you will support ongoing research activities.
On a weekly basis, the candidate will:
- Processing field samples such as insect collection cards, plant tissue, and images.
- Greenhouse maintenance including water, repotting, and training
- Data entry
- Assist in tasks in field, greenhouse and laboratory that are deemed necessary
On multiple occasions across the late semester and summer:
- Long field work collection days in vineyard research plots that include disease ratings,
plant phenology monitoring, drone imaging collection, and harvesting
- Prep extension workshop materials and help with workshops
- Participate in PDP development and selected Professional Development activities with
the group - Be engaged in 'all hands on deck' tasks, specifically: maintenance; harvest; planting;
pruning
There will be long field days requiring long hours once every 2weeks. |
