Structural Engineering Internship

CEMS Engineering, Inc. is searching for Structural engineering interns with strong technical abilities, and express an interest in building structural systems and materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, foundations, wind/earthquake design, etc.

The successful candidate's responsibilities may include:

  Assists senior engineers with routine design

  
  

• 
  

  Prepares structural drawings and calculations

  
  

• 
  

  Reviews calculations and drawings

  
  

• 
  

  Handles other duties as assigned by supervisor

  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• 
  

  Currently enrolled in B.S. Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent plus appropriate continuing education

  
  

• 
  

  1-2 years of civil engineering classes and/or other internship related experience specifically related to vertical civil and structural analysis and design (i.e. Structural Emphasis Areas)

  
  

• 
  

  Must have strong communication skills and be team-oriented.

  
  

• 
  

  Must be able to coordinate with other engineering teams/disciplines within the firm

  
  

• 
  

  Ability to work independently in a team environment and effectively manage time

  
  

• 
  

  Must be able to work and effectively coordinate with staff in multiple office locations

  
  

• 
  

  Effective time-management, written communication skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills

  
  

• 
  

  Candidates should be a self-motivated professional and currently enrolled (junior year, or higher) in college and pursuing a degree from an accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering

  
  

• 
  

  Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required

  
  

• 
  

  Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision making capabilities, problem resolution skills, and a sense of initiative are important for this internship

  
  

• 
  

  Ability to work in a team environment is required

  
  

• 
  

  Strong problem solving skills required

  
  

Desired Qualifications:

• 
  

  Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) Registration

  
  

• 
  

  Experience or working knowledge in drafting software AutoCAD and/or Revit.

  
  

• 
  

  Experience or working knowledge with design software (i.e. RISA, etc.)
