Provides special educational opportunities for nurses, residents, patients, and families relating to wound and osotomy management and the restoration and/or maintenance of good skin integrity. Provides direct patient care upon consultation, to enhance the management of problem/ problem prone patient skin care issues.
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate. Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served.
- Serves as a consultant, advisor and resource to Physicians, nursing staff, other health care team members, patients, and the community in ostomy and wound care management.
- Performs ongoing assessments of the patient's ostomy, wound and skin integrity. Assists members of the health care team in evaluating patients care to make recommendations.
- Assures quality outcome of patients/consumers through education and patient care. Evaluates staff and patient/families for knowledge deficits relating to ostomy, wound/skin care, and appropriate use of equipment and provides appropriate education. Maintains an effective communication link with staff, patient/family and the community.
- Organizes and oversees daily activities of wound care management. Manages resources, establishes priorities and modifies environment to meet patient care needs.
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, other members of the health care team outside agencies and Carilion entities to coordinate ostomy and wound care management.
- Participates in hospital, community, and professional committees.
- Develops, implements and evaluates care goals and standards. Evaluates and makes recommendations for equipment and supplies utilized for effective wound care management. Coordinates evaluation of skin integrity as it relates to equipment and supplies.
- Maintains professional competence and expertise in learning strategies both adult and children.

What We Require:
Education: BSN required
Experience: Minimum of three years clinical experience.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: RN license required. Licensed and currently registered in the state of Virginia. Current Specialty Certification preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Skill in verbal and written communication. Ability to travel. Excellent interpersonal skills. 24 hour accountability.
