As a Sr. Instrument and Control Specialist, you will be responsible for consistently monitoring and maintenance of the Control systems to ensure continued reliable operation.

What You'll Do

As a Sr. Instrument and Control Specialist, you will be responsible for consistently monitoring and maintenance of the Control systems to ensure continued reliable operation. Other duties include:

  • System hardware - firmware updates, lifestyle and legacy plans
  • Follow appropriate steps to the Management Of Change program
  • Organization and retention of documentation and records
  • Maintaining configuration object libraries
  • Implementing changes to align with process plant equipment modifications and upgrades and to accommodate process improvement initiatives
  • Overrides and Bridges. Maintain Control Defeats Register and DCS Change Logs
  • Draft control strategy documented by some means such as a SAMA diagram and or logic block diagrams.
  • Development of control loop functional specification.

  • Willingness to work overtime and be on call as required.
  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety. (Ensure SAO, JSA, Take 5's, stretching, and all safety rules are being completed.)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
  • Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values.
  • Supports BEx initiatives and ensures participation from all areas of responsibility.

What We're Looking For:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (four-year college or university), preferably in Chemical or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of related experience.
  • In lieu of degree, 10 years minimum in Automation Systems experience.
  • Experience in Safety Instrumented Systems (ISA 84/IEC 61511)
  • Experience in Control Systems or Process Control role.
  • Experience with HMI configuration. Experience with DCS/PLC configuration.(preferred DeltaV or Rockwell Automation Controllogix)
  • Experience with Databases (SQL Server and MS Access) and Networking.
