Description

In this role, you will be responsible for performing essential custodial and maintenance duties, ensuring that our community spaces at the Erie Community Center, the Erie Community Park, Coal Creek Cafe and the Ballpark at Erie remain clean, functional, and welcoming for all patrons.

All staff are expected to adhere to the Town's mission, vision and values of TRUE.

ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE:




  • Our ideal candidates will have availability in the afternoons, evenings and weekends.




Part-time could also include early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed; not to exceed 130 hours/month on average. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Building Attendant Duties



  • Performs custodial and building maintenance services at the Erie Community Center, the Erie Community Park, Coal Creek Cafe and the Ballpark at Erie
  • May be required to perform grounds maintenance duties including but not limited to trash removal, snow and ice removal
  • Sets up and tears down equipment used for activities, rentals, meetings, and special events.
  • Opens and closes specific areas of the facility
  • Maintains work area, facilities, supplies and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. This includes daily cleaning of fitness equipment
  • Operate Town owned vehicles including but not limited to cars, golf carts, and gators safely and responsibly following established policies and procedures set by the Town including age limits
  • Ensure the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests and practicing safe food handling procedures
  • May need to administer first aid, CPR, and other medical attention as needed
  • Communicates with Assistant Coordinator, Coordinator and MOD on current projects and work orders
  • Provides exceptional guest service to all guests. Responds to information requests, comments, and complaints from the public
  • Completes a variety of paperwork including daily records and logs and incident reports
  • Maintains frequent communications with other staff and volunteers within the Community Center and Division. Reports any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings

  • Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards
  • Inspect facilities and program areas to ensure a safe environment. Report safety concerns as needed.
  • Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility
  • Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner and ensures staff compliance
  • Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission


Other/Miscellaneous




  • Performs other related duties as assigned. May aid the Facility Maintenance Department when available



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • One-year related experience is preferred.



CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS




  • Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three months of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate exceptional leadership and communication skills and must possess expert knowledge of the principles, practices, trends and methods of recreational operations and programming in a community setting. Knowledge of guidelines and regulations related to Department, Town, County, State, and Federal policies and procedures also required.

Skills in: Initiative and decision-making; verbal and written communication; supervision, leadership, and interpersonal relationships; basic financial methods of recreational programming; outstanding customer service to a diverse population; administrative functions; time management, meeting deadlines, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community; conflict resolution; handling controversial issues; comprehending instruction, correspondence, and policies and procedures; problem solving; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification.

Environmental Factors:

Work is performed inside and outside a standard recreational facility environment. Work can include driving. Work may involve competing demands and performing multiple tasks.

Physical Factors:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and regularly lift boxes and rental equipment of 50lbs or more.
