The hiring range for this role is:

78,638.00 - 110,285.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the hiring range and this hiring range may also be modified in the future. A candidate's position within the hiring range may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.This job is also eligible for annual bonus incentive pay.

Job Description Summary:

This role works across the Federal and State Affairs teams, supporting the coordination and execution of internal and external projects and meetings. Provides support to senior leadership, assisting in tracking the advocacy team budget, managing invoices and contracts, and executing other functions for day-to-day operations. Assists with formatting issue talking points, memos, PowerPoint slides and other materials to enable the Association to influence the outcome of policy priorities. Interacts extensively with colleagues across various teams, representatives of BCBS Plans and other health care lobbyists.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Primary Job Functions

  • Supports senior leadership with day-to-day operations along with tracking annual budget, submitting invoices, and managing contracts

  • Leads a variety of project management priorities that support the team, including developing/finalizing materials for regularly scheduled internal meetings and Plan advocacy resources.

  • Provides support to the advocacy team with special events, including briefings, fly-ins, Plan meetings, and other events as determined by leadership.

  • Conducts legislative research and issue tracking to provide timely and accurate information to team members in support of key initiatives, including a dashboard to catalog member Plan activities in the states.

  • Coordinates and assists in leading internal strategy meetings, focusing on up-to-date BCBSA legislative strategy, congressional and state activities, and health care issues to develop and maintain an understanding of priority issues. Identifies opportunities and key messages for various internal and external communications.

Required Education, Certifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelors Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred: Masters graduate degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience:
Required:

  • Minimum 4 years or related experience in healthcare policy, lobbying, or as a member of the legislative or political team in a Hill office or a trade association.

  • Experience in federal or state government

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Ability to build relationships and leverage connections across the organization to anticipate and identify issues in support of the administrative needs of the team.

  • Sophisticated/strategic thinking to support the External Affairs teams' short, mid, and long-term policy and advocacy goals

  • High level executive presence

  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written skills.

  • Superior analytical, planning and project management skills
