NHP Inventory Manager

The Inventory Manager will oversee primate inventories for all North America (NA) NHP sites, including Alice East, Alice West, and Denver, PA. Acting as a critical point of contact for clients regarding available animals, the Inventory Manager ensures a professional and positive experience by matching client specifications with available inventory. This role fosters long-term client relationships by delivering satisfaction and trust.
In addition to managing inventory, this position serves as a liaison between clients, client services, sales, operations, import team and the COO, ensuring clear communication and seamless collaboration. The Inventory Manager bridges departmental gaps, aligning stakeholders on inventory status, client needs, and operational priorities. They work closely with all key NHP stakeholders to provide updates on animal inventory and address any emerging issues, ensuring leadership remains informed and aligned with operational activities.

Inventory Management & Coordination:

  • Oversee inventory management at Alice East, Alice West, and Denver, PA, ensuring alignment with client specifications.
  • Manage inventory electronically using company software, ensuring accuracy and compliance, including regular updates on inventory changes.
  • Oversee selection of animals for shipment, evaluation of health records, and coordination of necessary processing.
  • Communicate with upper management, operations, sales, client services and supply to assign animals for sales and oversee shipment events.
  • Report production and analysis to support team with inventory management reviews.
  • Initiate purchase orders for imports, track farm deposits, maintain systems for inventory movement and changes.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments, ensuring alignment on inventory status, client needs, and operational priorities.

NHP Import Support

  • Support import animal selection to match client demand.
  • Monitor and report import health status results for further discussion with Director of Global Primate Sourcing and Strategy
  • Monitor and report animal mortality and investigate causation with veterinary medical and operations personnel as required.

Client Relations & Sales Support:

  • Function as a point of contact for client colonies regarding animal availability and health status.
  • Match client specifications with available animals, enhancing satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to develop off-the-shelf animal sales strategies.
  • Consult, in coordination with sales and client services, with clients to establish requirements, and shipping details.
  • Coordinate with internal sales and client services to support monthly client invoicing for colonies and annual reconciliation.
  • Review client owned colonies against specification and support regular update reviews with clients on management of colonies both in USA and at NHP farms.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding inventory status and emerging issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including customer service, operations, accounting, transportation, and veterinary staff.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with key leaders and stakeholders.

Specialized Knowledge & Expertise:

  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of nonhuman primates to tailor solutions to client needs.
  • In coordination with Senior Leadership, Operations, Sales and Client Services, support the development of professional and timely responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Champion the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles in operational planning.

Ad Hoc Projects

  • As required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Animal Science, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in the Life Science industry.
  • Experience with laboratory animals and inventory management systems (e.g., Enos, PAM's, JD Edwards, Atunes).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong operational, commercial, and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and time management abilities.

Expertise in quality control, customer service, and stakeholder engagement

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
