JOB SUMMARY
Works under moderate supervision to provide technical expertise in radiation therapy treatment planning, operating radiation equipment and radioactive sources commonly employed, and measuring and generating radiation dose distributions and calculations under direction of Radiation Therapy Physicist and/or Radiation Oncologist. Performs treatment planning of complex plans, as well as 2D, 3D, IMRT, VMAT and SBRT cases. Consults with physicians to explain and review details, then finalize plan as agreed upon. Provides technical assistance to medical physicists, radiation therapists and physicians regarding implementation of treatment plans which they have created. Follows and participates in development of dosimetry team's policies, procedures and quality assurance methods. May teach aspects of dosimetry to therapy and dosimetry students, medical residents and physics residents.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in physical or biological science,


  • Experience
    3 years clinical experience as Medical Dosimetrist


  • Licenses and Certifications
    (CMD) Certified Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)


JOB DUTIES



  • Performs treatment planning of complex plans, as well as 2D, 3D, IMRT, VMAT and SBRT cases. Consults with physicians to explain and review details, then finalize plan as agreed upon.
  • Provides technical assistance to medical physicists, radiation therapists and physicians regarding implementation of treatment plans which they have created.
  • Follows and participates in development of dosimetry team's policies, procedures and quality assurance methods.
  • May teach aspects of dosimetry to therapy and dosimetry students, medical residents and physics residents.
  • May be involved in clinical research or development and implementation of new techniques under the supervision of the Director of Treatment Planning .
  • Keeps current on new treatment planning techniques, devices, and methods.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of radiation therapy including patient setups, treatment devices and machine limitations.
  • Follow clinical protocols as described in protocol guidelines and submit data (when required) in a timely manner.
  • Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
