Job Description Summary

Staff Accountant

The Cash Staff Accountant will perform accurate and timely reconciliations of branch, regional, and corporate bank accounts and/or assist in other Cash related functions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile all bank accounts, including branch, regional, and corporate accounts.
  • Reconcile all cash related balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for the general ledger in accordance with accounting close schedule.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items and prepare associated journal entries.
  • Reconcile Accounts Payable/Payroll disbursement accounts daily, including clearing checks and ACHs.
  • Monitor accounts for fraud daily.
  • Analyze credit card merchant processing and interchange rates.
  • Analyze credit card chargeback transactions, NSF checks, and customer refunds.
  • Administer and manage corporate credit card program.
  • Support and provide training to the field via telephone to comply with auditing standards.
  • Develop and refine training objectives for the field based on reconciliation abnormalities.
  • Report noncompliance with performance standards from the field.
  • Update procedures quarterly for assigned duties.
  • Pool cash as needed and prepare transfer journal entry.
  • Support financial statement audit requests.
  • Review and resolve daily till exception report.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • 3-5 years of work experience
  • Knowledge of the banking industry
  • Accounting related work experience
  • AS400 system knowledge
  • Customer service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands:

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt's safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range: $26.14 - 35.94
