Senior Electrical Engineer

Merrick & Company is seeking a full time Senior Electrical Engineer I for our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department to join our Chattanooga, Tennessee office. This business unit supports several market sectors including but not limited to power, manufacturing, industrial, and advanced biofuels markets. This is a Full-Time position. This senior engineer will serve as the supervisor and technical lead of 5-7 individuals at the Chattanooga, Tennessee office. Relocation will be considered.

Typical annual pay range for this position is $122,000.00 - $160,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.

• Serve as office electrical discipline lead and provide oversight of 5-7 employees. This includes the administrative task of timesheet approvals, and work assignments.
• Serve as a project discipline lead for client-based projects.
• Develop electrical design documents and drawings.
• Analyze and approve the work of others. Monitor the work performed by the team.
• Conceptual and detailed design of low and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI's process equipment and instrumentation.
• Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
• Lead the electrical portion of project meetings and make necessary presentations.
• Perform typical electrical calculations including but not limited to voltage drop, short circuit, coordination studies, arc flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, and grounding. Experience using ETAP & SKM software preferred.
• Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment including, but not limited to, transformers, switchgear, MCCs.
• Travel to client project sites to support field walk downs and as-built efforts.
• Monitor allocated resources to ensure that the work performed is within project estimates.
• Work with Design/Engineering Managers to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents are provided for each project.

• Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power, energy, oil and gas or other industrial process industries.
• Ability to work in the office 3-5 days / week.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited college is required.
• PE License required.
• Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
• Experience developing one-line drawings, control schematics and wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, etc.
• Experience developing electrical system models utilizing ETAP or SKM software, evaluating the results and producing the necessary reports. Experience developing Arc Flash labels, relay settings sheets, & protective coordination settings.
• Working knowledge of technical Codes and Standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
• Experience using Bluebeam Revu software.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT or other design software.
