Job Summary

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Plant Controller to support our manufacturing facilities in Lincolnshire, IL and Chicago, IL. Reporting to the Director, Finance - Flexan (MDS) and with a dotted line relationship to the Multi-site Operations Manager, this role will be a trusted finance business partner to oversee the financial performance for both plants. This will include implementing/maintaining policies and processes while driving revenue growth, margin expansion, cost efficiencies, and net working capital optimization.

This role is highly collaborative in nature, requiring excellent communication skills in both sharing of financial concepts and the grasping of operational imperatives. The person filling this role should have a passion for a manufacturing business. They are inquisitive, pro-active, capable of managing complex projects, and possess a high attention to detail. They will develop a strong foundational understanding of the current state and play a critical role to drive transformative improvements.

Responsibilities:


  • Operations Reporting:
    Provide insightful analytical reporting which delivers context and implications of the financial results, trends, risks and opportunities. This includes understanding productivity, scrap, PPV, or spending trends as well as order rates, backlog, inventory accuracy, and capital tracking.


  • Control Environment:
    Champion strong financial controls through adherence to all existing policies and promote a pro-active partnership with teams in the resolution of current or future gaps. Establish and maintain a strong culture of compliance (revenue cut-off, obsolescence reserves, safeguarding assets).


  • Planning:
    Develop timely and accurate forecasts which could include revenue, manufacturing costs (material, labor, overhead. scrap), inventory, capital, and shipments. Develop relationships with multiple stakeholders by assessing risk and opportunities both on the P&L and Balance Sheet. Support standard cost process.


  • Liaison to Corporate Functions:
    Facilitate timely response to requests from FP&A, financial services, and/or MDS leadership, including intercompany profit elimination, AP and AR inquiries, etc.


  • Business Partnership:
    Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities. Take a hands-on role in the development and evaluation of both tactical and strategic objectives. This could include support to drive new business, margin expansion, and forecast accuracy.





Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related Business Concentration.

  • 7+ years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence others and support colleagues in pursuit of team objectives



Core Competencies:


  • MBA, CMA, CFA, CPA certification.

  • Compliance: Experience with SOX compliance, audit engagements, and effective project management.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data, derive actionable insights, and summarize key messages simply to team members at all levels

  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies issues, implements effective solutions, and drive for continuous improvement

  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to support cross-departmental initiatives.

  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.

  • Systems: Familiar with ERP systems with high competency with Excel, HFM, data warehouses, and other business application.



Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:


  • This position will be based onsite 3+ days per week with <10%>



Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $120,000-$150,000 excluding incentive opportunities. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive (discretionary/nondiscretionary) annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
