Job Summary

Reporting to the Field Services Manager, the Field Service Technician's primary function is the installation, repair, maintenance and management of both Sharp and Pregis Packaging and Sharp Systems/Equipment, with predominate focus on Pregis Packaging equipment. In addition to assisting with the equipment needs of their customers, it is the responsibility of Pregis Field Service Technicians to effectively communicate with Pregis Systems Administrators, Regional and Account Managers, and customers about technical and non-technical information regarding their equipment.

Position includes a company vehicle, paid overtime, and bonus opportunity.

Job Location

Candidate must reside in greater Seattle area. Daily local travel Monday to Friday to customer sites in Washington state, northern Idaho, and western Canada. Average of 5 to 10 overnights per month. Overtime as required.

Job Responsibilities




  • Provide in-field support and development of material delivery systems
  • Comprehensive preventative maintenance scheduling, machine tracking and material usage monitoring
  • Perform demonstrations of Pregis systems and train end-users on operation and maintenance
  • Film/consumable and machine trouble shooting and quality control reporting
  • Satisfying, in a timely and complete fashion, the required service-related documentation


  • Ensures minimum errors or omissions in servicing equipment which may result in excessive customer calls, customer dissatisfaction and possible damage to the equipment.
  • Performs inspections and advises customers on methods to minimize downtime and interruptions.
  • Provides solutions to technical problems, is the proficient service analyst on all assigned products and maintains knowledge of functions and applications of assigned products.
  • Accurately prepares required paperwork as assigned.
  • Assists in the quote process for jobs requested by the Sales department, when applicable.
  • Helps maintain and control the parts inventory and service tool inventory. Monitors service billing to customers, assures proper records and reports completion of service work.
  • Tests, corrects and debugs operating routines, and assists others in doing the same.
  • Coordinates and supports field tests of new products, product updates or field change orders. Analyzes equipment performance and prepares necessary reports or records.
  • Maintains an accurate and up to date record on all co-assigned parts and tool inventories.
  • Understands and adheres to the financial and operations policies and procedures



Experience and Skills




  • Associates Degree or equivalent from 2-year college preferred
  • At least 5 years of related experience and/or training preferred
  • Mechanical assembly skills and ability to read blueprints/manuals required
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance skills and some electrical aptitude required
  • Excellent communication skills paired with the ability to effectively engage with both internal and external customers at all levels
  • Ability to work successfully with little to no direct supervision
  • Effective time management and cost control skills
  • A clean driving record is required (company car is provided)
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs required
  • Walking extended distances required
  • Standing for extended times up to 75% of the day
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.



Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis's total compensation package. The annualized base pay range for this role is estimated to be $65,000 to $75,000.
