POSITION SUMMARY

WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Collaborate with department heads to develop annual revenue budgets and track performance throughout the year (including budget vs. actual analytics reviewed by C-Suite executives)

Prepare or detail review work performed by staff in a SOX-regulated environment, including:

  • Revenue - several different revenue streams, including accounting for transactions with wholly-owned, partially-owned, fund, and third-party managed properties
  • Parking revenue and related expenses of our in-house parking department
  • Capitalized Payroll - record using GAAP billing rates and timesheet data
  • Equity-Method Investments - impact of non-controlling interest on day-to-day accounting

Supervise a team of 2+ corporate accountants. Duties include:

  • Take an active role in the development and growth of staff
  • Set goals for staff and evaluate/discuss performance throughout the year
  • Outline work that needs to be completed and allocate amongst staff
  • Provide guidance for accounting for various transactions and recording journal entries
  • Cross-train staff


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of related accounting experience
  • CPA or active candidate is preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Public accounting or real estate/REIT experience are pluses
  • Working knowledge of Yardi is a plus

The salary range for this position is $110,000-$115,000. JBG SMITH offers a bonus program and a competitive benefits package; including up to $5,250 annual reimbursement for professional development opportunities.
