Responsibilities The Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) is responsible for answering all 911 medical emergency calls and non-emergency calls related to EMS. EMD then dispatches the appropriate resources in accordance with EMD Card set to provide the appropriate resources for the emergency. EMD is responsible for tracking all resources, times and appropriate radio traffic for the emergency and entering into the 911 CAD system. The EMD needs to be proficient in multitasking as there is usually multiple emergencies happening at the same time. EMD must also answer non-emergency calls and be able to triage calls. The EMS Dispatcher reviews EPCR's that are turned in to make sure all needed information is in place for billing information. Dispatchers also perform a variety of clerical duties.
