Simulation Center Director

Responsible for overseeing all simulation-based experiences of Bryan College of Health Sciences (BCHS), Bryan Health (BH) and the healthcare community. Responsibilities include facility operations, personnel management, budgeting, growth, efficiency, and strategic planning for the Simulation Center. Supports inter-professional collaboration with internal and external constituents locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to impact quality and safety in healthcare. Organizes workflow of simulation schedule by collecting user information and requirements, assigning and managing department resources, and overseeing the department calendar. Oversees the management and maintenance of equipment, information technology systems, programming and inventory. Collaborates with participants and stakeholders to provide valuable simulation experiences to learners.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Oversees scheduling in the Simulation Center and manages department workflow to align with scheduled simulation activities.

3. Directs the maintenance of Simulation Center records.

4. *Collaborates with stakeholders of the Simulation Center to assess simulation experiences and to implement changes.

5. *Establishes and maintains policies and processes for simulation-based experiences and the Simulation Center.

6. *Administers operations of the Simulation Center including budget, personnel, physical space, and equipment.

7. Identifies and delegates daily operational assignments to the appropriate Simulation Center personnel.

8. Ensures simulation resources, equipment, and warranties are maintained to support an optimal simulation learning environment.

9. Collaborates with BCHS, BH and local, regional, national, and international stakeholders to advance the use of simulation in healthcare education.

10. Directly involved in strategic planning and implementation of initiatives for the Simulation Center, BCHS and BH.

11. Serves on applicable BCHS and BH committees.

12. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

13. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

14. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws that governs education.

2. Knowledge of college and simulation accreditation processes and requirements.

3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

4. Skill in simulation instruction.

5. Ability to analyze problems, identify needs and priorities and implement effective work strategies.

6. Ability to effectively react and perform work under stressful situations.

7. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

9. Ability to apply the principles, practices and applications of management including planning, organizing, directing and evaluating.

10. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

11. Ability to coordinate management and work area activities internally and externally.

12. Ability to schedule, direct, counsel and evaluate employee work and performance.

13. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required. If employee is educated in a health profession, maintenance of the appropriate licensure or registry is required. Minimum five (5) years' experience in simulation-based educational experiences required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Simulation certificate from a college with institutional accreditation required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire date.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
