Summary of Job Description:

The Manager, Accounting is responsible for lease AP, lease AR and general accounting.This position is also responsible for leading the end of month close process, balance sheet reconciliation and review, implementing/enforcing standard policy and procedures. The Manager, Accounting leads a team comprised of professional and support staff, coaching, and developing associates to elevate their performance.

You'll get a chance to:

  • Lead and direct Lease AP & AR Accountants. Work in collaboration with the property management team on the day-to-day accounting activities and operation.
  • Lead the end of month close process, review bank reconciliation workpapers, adjust journal entries, various clearing accounts and prepare the end of month report to the leadership team.
  • Responsible for quarterly balance sheet reconciliation, AR and capital account roll-forward, identifying discrepancies and providing actionable solutions.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, record current year depreciation/amortization from tax software to accounting system, collaborating with CPAs on cost segregation studies and reconciling fixed asset software records with accounting data to finalize accumulated depreciation and amortization.
  • Assist with investment distributions calculations, including regular, waterfall, interim, and carried interest distributions based on entity operating agreements.
  • Responding to cross departments' inquiries and requests, ensure accurate information is shared and issues are resolved effectively.
  • Maintaining accounting controls and implementing/enforcing standard policies and procedures.
  • Manages and develops a team comprised of professional and support staff, delegating projects to staff to accomplish accounting and tax work in a timely and efficient manner.Responsible for hiring and retaining staff. Develops and elevates associate performance to support the company's growth strategies.
  • Provide support on ad-hoc projects as directed by the Tax & Accounting Executive Director

Your background & experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; major in Business/Accounting preferred with course work in Accounting required; CPA desirable
  • Minimum seven years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-state, multi-legal entity real estate environment with prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Successful completion of initial and periodically required training
  • Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.

Pay Range: M2: $112,500 - $158,000 / Annual

* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.

While performing duties, counter areas are often hot with steam from steam table and food vapors. Workspace is restricted and employees are generally expected to remain standing for long periods of time. Employees must prepare hot and cold foods, use Chinese cook knife and other kitchen equipment and work quickly without losing accuracy. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand up to four hours and reach across counter tops measured at 36 inches to serve customers. Kitchens are hot and noise levels are usually high; storage space is limited and shelving is high.
