Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting for a full-time (100% FTE), Sr Laboratory Associate, in the Components Manufacturing Laboratory. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.



The Senior Lab Associate will complete Component Manufacturing laboratory activities and provide support activities for the research and/or teaching needs of the Components laboratory through the administration of operational policies and procedures and the integration of lab activities with community needs. The incumbent will be assigned to work during first shift 7:00am-3:30 pm M-F.

Essential Functions

  • Provide training, supervision and assistance to students and/or researchers regarding the use of lab or lab equipment.
  • Provide support for research and/or teaching needs of faculty. Develop and distribute handouts, manuals and documentation to students and faculty.
  • Coordinate the integration of community needs with lab activities.
  • Set-up, troubleshoot and supervise the use of lab equipment and/or experiments.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment inventory and/or quality control activity. Order supplies/equipment as needed.
  • Develop and implement safety programs.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Associate's Degree.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Two (2) years of experience in an area of technical specialty.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
