Salary/Compensation Statement:

  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $57,269 - $83,986
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years' relevant experience and education.
  • Lane's robust Benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, basic term life insurance, long term disability, vacation leave, personal time and paid sick leave.
  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Grant Statement:
Continuation of position is contingent upon grant-funding.

Required QUALIFICATIONS


Required Education:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in business, communications, or project management.
Required Experience:

  • Three (3) years experience in all phases of business operations and business advising/consulting.
  • One (1) year of the required experience must be in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Licensure or Certification Requirements
  • Current Oregon driver's license.

Position Purpose:
The Project Coordinator for Business Advising position supports the Director in coordinating Lane SBDC external operations including business advising, grant administration, workshops and training classes, communications and marketing, and stakeholder relationships. This position reports directly to the SBDC Director, working within broad parameters without onsite supervision and with significant discretion required to ensure administrative and operational supports are in place to meet customer demand and ensure compliance with external agencies and college policy.
Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate business advising and training.
  • Coordinate and develop Lane SBDC Adviser team (in partnership with Lead Adviser) including staff, training, workshops, and programs in alignment with Lane SBDC mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Coordinate with Lead Project Coordinator for hiring of part-time Adviser/Instructors including: Instructor/Adviser, Teaching Agreements (ITAs), position descriptions, job postings, and interviews.
  • Monitor time sheets for Adviser/Instructors in alignment with Instructor Teaching Agreements.
  • Review, proof, and approve course descriptions, syllabi, and materials.
  • Consult with the Director to develop and approve curriculum, course scheduling, and class fees.
  • Coordinate external communications.
  • Consult with the Director on a weekly basis to discuss current priorities, events, activities, and issues/needs within the department, team, or clients and stakeholders.
  • Support the Director with external grant applications, reporting, and administration.
  • Oversee adviser client spotlight/success stories and economic impact reports for use in grant administration, reporting, and applications.
  • Oversee and coordinate external communication tasks with Lane SBDC and Oregon SBDC Marketing teams including: maintenance and updates to webpage, social media (e.g. Facebook/Instagram), and newsletter, creation of marketing fliers, brochures, publications, and press releases.
  • Support and collaborate with the Lead Project Coordinator for key events (i.e. staff events and functions, SBDC open houses, course graduations, etc.) as assigned by the Director.
  • Support and collaborate with the Lead Project Coordinator for internal operations, systems, and processes related to advisers, instructors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Represent SBDC at community meetings and events.
  • Engage in active collaboration with partners.
  • Small business advising and training.
  • Work both independently and as a collaborative team member of a multi-functional department and statewide network of Advisers and coordinators for Small Business Development Centers.
  • Perform one-on-one advising sessions with clients which could include but are not limited to: client business development goals and assessment, personnel factors, marketing, advertising, selling, record keeping, financial procurement and management, business planning, laws and legislation affecting business, sustainability practices, operational techniques and technology, and leadership.
  • Targeted population includes pre-venture and existing small business owners and entrepreneurs.
  • Submit client spotlight/success stories submissions and economic impact reports for use in grant reporting.
  • Use Lane SBDC's common scheduling tool and maintain timely records of client progress and required data in the SBDC network databases.
  • Refer clients to appropriate workshops, programs, community services and/or resources.
  • Facilitate and lead department workshops and classes as requested by the Director.
  • Actively participate in department meetings.
  • Follow department and college policies, processes, and procedures including conflict of interest and confidentiality agreements.
  • Work within the Lane SBDC program and advising budget.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students (when applicable).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
This position reports directly to the SBDC Director, working within broad parameters without onsite supervision and with significant discretion required. How to perform tasks is largely left to the discretion of this position with considerable freedom to interpret and apply policies, rules and regulations; performance is measured mainly by the results. This position develops budget recommendations for the Director of the Lane SBDC.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
