Graphic/Motion Designer

About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of the
Graphic/Motion Designer (temp) is to create the visual and audio elements that
bring the PBS North Carolina brand to life. Through visual design, animation
and video editing, this position creates the key on-screen broadcast elements
that represent our brand, various programming, education, and fundraising
efforts. This involves creation of logo & title treatment designs,
supporting broadcast elements and digital
assets that align with the client's strategic needs. This role
works to ensure a clear, informative, and engaging on-screen experience
utilizing a variety of professional design and broadcast tools and techniques.
This role will work collaboratively with various PBS NC teams to determine the
best solutions for each project. This role partners with the production team to
ensure delivery of final graphic packages. This role also creates on-screen
messaging in support of fundraising efforts, broadcast information, education,
and public safety. Responsibilities include the development of visuals for station promotions, regional &
national show branding packages and ongoing graphic needs, as well as on-air
advertising and fundraising efforts. To achieve these goals, this position is
responsible for creative, efficient, accurate and timely creation of graphic
elements and messages. This role also organizes and maintains upkeep of
graphics libraries and templates. The responsibilities of the position involve
setting priorities and strategies for each project, and the carrying out of
these activities within budget and on schedule. This position requires the
ability to work independently and to operate with a high level of understanding
of organizational mission, goals, and strategies. It also requires highly
developed communication and technical skills in the areas of graphic design,
broadcast graphics and technology, and video editing.

This position is a hybrid work arrangement and will work at least 3 days per week at the Bryan Center in Research Triangle Park, NC. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the Team
PBS North Carolina's Marketing Communications Division
is responsible for the development and execution of marketing plans to drive
brand awareness, engage audiences, drive fundraising and contributions, and
advance the organization's mission.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Competencies
*
Proficiency in graphic design best-practices, color and typography *
Familiarity in the creation of various graphic elements required for broadcast
television. These include but are not limited to: full screen graphics, lower
thirds, name keys, opening sequences, music selection, credit beds, maps, and
on-air bugs/logos * Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud programs including After
Effects, Premiere, Media Encoder, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
* Familiarity with filming and
editing video. * Familiarity creating graphics within established brand
guidelines. * Experience working in 2.5D and 3D space. * Experience working on
Dalet media system, and Chyron or XPression graphics
system. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to be
collaborative and flexible in working cross-departmentally and with shifting
priorities. * Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, under strict
deadlines, in an organized manner. * Experience working with Content Producers,
Copywriters, and Designers. * Experience presenting complex graphic packages to
key stakeholders and senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
