Job Description

The Core Room Supervisor is a salary role and will be responsible for the safety, production, and quality of the Core Room, as well as supervising and coordinating the activities of team members, while leading in accordance with the McWane Way.

Department Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
  • Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
  • Proactively exhibits and promotes The McWane Way principles.
  • Oversees the day-to-day functions supporting the core room operations.
  • Ensures quality processes are in place and effective.
  • Effectively communicates and translates safety standards to employees.
  • Confers and collaborates with other supervisors and managers to ensure seamless communication and effective transition of products and activities.
  • Facilitates daily startup meetings while promoting safety and unity.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment and adjusts as needed to meet production schedules.
  • Ensures production packets are planned, released, and printed to the required department.
  • Manages core inventory.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintains established stocking plans requirements on finished and rough parts for assigned product line. Makes suggestions when needed on raising or lowering requirements.
  • Completes sampling process in a timely manner for scrap reduction and productivity improvements.
  • Knowledgeable of the Company's ISO program and collaborate with quality for accurate documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities - Directly supervises 10 - 20 team members.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Listens to employees' professional needs while coaching and empowering the team to optimize and elevate their competencies.
  • Proactively addresses potential issues and works to quickly resolve any complaints or concerns.
  • Interprets company policies for the team.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate the team to achieve work goals.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferred; high school diploma/GED. required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing supervision experience. required.
  • Minimum 2 years foundry operations and core rom experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel. required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Language Skills

Ability to: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to: solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
