Division : Bostik Department : Research & Development Job title: Chemist Job dimensions EMEA R&D team: Focused activity within Industrial adhesives for the Durable Goods markets for building Components and Mobility. Activities Deliver clearly defined tasks supporting development projects within agreed timescales. Provide project led technical support to improve manufacturing processes and scale up of formulations. Develop connections to technical stakeholders and raw material suppliers. Build experience with how our customers use our products today or in the future, building testing methods to test or products. Build knowledge of existing or future emerging technologies. Provide project led technical support to customers through technical interactions, support the provision of testing, technical presentations and product literature. Continual professional development, through interacting with the EMEA and Global community, or appropriate on ongoing internal/external learning. Document learnings through written technical reports. Maintain COSHH and other HSE required documentation and records. Keep up to date with, health and safety issues in all aspects of the work undertaken. Maintain their commitment to the Arkema Essentials. Recognises and anticipates when intellectual property protection is needed and understands when to operate under an NDA. Context and environment The role is laboratory-based, with all the associated implications for health and safety. The jobholder must meet and interact confidently with other internal departments and customers and represent the company in a professional capacity at all times. The role involves external project led technical support and may require travel domestically and non-domestically as required. Accountabilities The focus will be on product line expansion within Building Components and supporting existing fenestration and building components products portfolio. Developing and following bespoke test plans across multiple chemistries within the Mobility portfolio. The role will also require development of market and application experience within the current technology perimeter and building of knowledge in other technologies within Bostik. Qualifications / experience required Education: A Degree (BSc) or higher in a science or engineering based role. Ideally minimum of 1-2 years' experience in formulating and testing adhesives and sealant products or similar products within industry. Someone who effectively communicates, is flexible, a self-starter, organised and has the ability to work and plan project tasks allocated are essential attributes. The role requires IT skills. |
