DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Service Occupations Teacher (Warehouse Operations/Material Handling) at SCI Phoenix, your main responsibility will be to provide vocational training to inmate students. You will be involved in evaluating their potential and determining their eligibility for placement within the program. You will also be required to adapt teaching materials to meet students needs. Your duties will include providing both classroom and hands-on instruction, assigning and grading homework, administering tests, and giving a final evaluation for each student. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring student behavior, enforcing classroom rules and procedures, and taking necessary disciplinary actions when needed, while keeping proper documentation.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical; or
- If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical.

Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of or eligible for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate 1 or 2 for the specified parenthetical; or
- You must be in possession of or eligible for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or
- Eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
