DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for the overall treatment of all patients under your care. This includes performing detailed psychiatric examinations and making appropriate diagnoses in keeping with the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association. In this position, you will act as a team director and conduct team meetings, formulate treatment plans to establish treatment goals, and ensure that treatment modalities recommended at team meetings are provided. You will confer with interdisciplinary staff, patients, and their families on the treatment provided. You can expect to prepare comprehensive reports of detailed psychiatric examinations, weekly and monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries. Additionally, you will attend medical staff and hospital committee meetings, as well as participate in committee work as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • You may be on-call evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel and overtime as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
