What you'll be doing

The Patient Services Representative is primarily responsible for serving as a liaison between SRHD Opioid Treatment Services' patients and healthcare professionals (internal/external) to ensure patients receive the right information needed for understanding/guidance of the various insurance company options. Educates the patients around benefit packages and billing options. Educates and helps the patients to understand and be able to navigate the healthcare system. Understands the flows/processes of claims surrounding the various insurance plans. Works with patients to ensure financial compliance.


Some Essential Functions Include:
  • Assist patients and clarifies any points of confusion with a variety of insurance issues/concerns surrounding billing, coverage, authorizations, plan options, etc.
  • Monitor Outstanding Balances for financial compliance weekly.
  • Obtain authorizations from insurances that require authorizations for claims submission.
  • Assist patients who are over income for Medicaid with selection of available Marketplace Insurance plans and help them to understand how it works, their expected costs as well as for general and emergency room use. Also, look at resources available to reduce their cost sharing amounts.

What we need from you

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in business or closely related field.
  • Three to five years of customer service experience, including two years of medical billing.
  • Community Navigator Assister Certification/Recertification within 6 months of hire date.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional certification may be considered provided the individual's background demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or closely related field.
  • Experience in a mental health/behavioral health setting.
