Summary:

Computer Labs Technical Support Specialist 1 assists in the operations and technical functions of the TECH Center, providing first and second level support, focusing on Mac imaging and troubleshooting. Works with other full-time employees to oversee lab operations. At times, will supervise student workers on the same shift, and other times will work with other full-time staff to manage the lab, specialty areas of the lab, and lab related systems. Assists with imaging computers, setting up labs, and investigating new technologies. Will also train students in using specialized resources from an established training program. Will be assigned other lab technical areas/systems and will be responsible for learning the operations in those areas. Will be in a rotation for emergency calls for nights/weekends.

Regularly scheduled hours will be Tuesdays through Thursdays, 1:00pm-10:00pm, and Fridays-Saturdays,10:00am-7:00pm. The schedule may rotate with other staff on evening/weekday schedules on a regular or as-needed basis. The schedule will change during breaks, intersession periods, final exams, and the regular schedule may change depending on university needs, or if coverage is needed during a weather emergency. Performs other duties as assigned. This is an on-site position.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of related technical experience. Experience with imaging large groups of PCs (over 150). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

* Intermediate PC and Mac hardware and software troubleshooting

* Intermediate mobile device troubleshooting and configuration

* Intermediate printing troubleshooting

* Demonstrated ability to assist people who require help with technical tasks.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2019/365.

* Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.

* Understanding of PC and/or Mac imaging and concepts.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals.

* Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as necessary.

PREFERRED:

* Equipment loan software experience.

* Printing management software experience.

* Knowledge of printing troubleshooting for laser printers, inkjet printers, and poster printers.

* Demonstrated ability to manage macOS and iOS devices using Jamf

* Computer Lab management experience.

* Prior work experience in higher education

* Troubleshooting connections to AppleTV and Kramer devices.
