Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for repairing, maintaining, and installing both mechanical and automated manufacturing machinery, including troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical malfunctions.

Essential Duties:



  • Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, and upgrades mechanical systems including: hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, and upgrades electrical systems including: programmable controllers, PLCs, circuit boards etc.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs facility equipment such as centralized air systems, air compressors, water cooling systems, and conveyors.
  • Reads and interprets electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Repairs equipment/components without the use of wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and/or instructions, when required.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory and principles including: specifications, codes, principles of operations and application of electronic or test equipment.
  • Analyzes all types of circuitry, wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repair.
  • Installs, repairs, and modifies machinery, and performs predictive/preventative maintenance that involves adjusting mechanical units, electrical units, electronic controls, components, and related wiring.
  • Minor fabrication and machining.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills and Experience:



  • Relevant trade certificates or education in electrical, facilities and/or industrial maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electro pneumatic, and electrical systems, demonstrated troubleshooting ability and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints, machine drawings, electrical diagrams, and schematics.
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical tools, precision measuring equipment, electronic test equipment, along with various other tools common to this trade.
  • Experience with industrial automation, including three and six axis robotics required.
  • Experience with Fanuc robots preferred.
  • Experience with Mitsubishi controls preferred.
  • Previous experience in machining and fabrication preferred.

Skills and Experience (Cont.):



  • Previous experience using maintenance software preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working in industrial lift equipment such as scissor lifts and boom lifts.
  • Working knowledge of centralized air systems, air compressors, water cooling systems, and conveyors.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties while working under strict timelines to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally and communicate with internal and external parties.
  • Customer service and team oriented.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strict attention to safety.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime, adjusted shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or in a multi-cultural environment a plus.



Physical Requirements:



  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Standing & Walking: Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances, climbing stairs or ladders occasionally.
  • Repetitive Motion: Capable of performing repetitive tasks, including grasping, lifting, twisting and reaching. and bending, squatting.
  • Hand-eye Coordination: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls and make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Ability to use manual dexterity to operate levers, buttons, and controls.
  • Vision & Attention to Detail: Good close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus and ensure safe operations, including reading gauges and safety indicators.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to maintain focus and physical energy throughout the workday. The pace of work is steady.
  • Balance & Mobility: Must have good balance and be able to move freely in tight spaces, ability to bend and squat.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in various conditions including varying temperatures, exposure to manufacturing oils and fluids and moderate noise levels.
  • Safety Gear: Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, hard hat as required.
