Veterans/Disabled and other protected categories JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Production Manager REPORTING TO: Director of Operations LOCATION: 8929 Fullbright Avenue, Chatsworth, CA SHIFT: Mon-Thur: 6:00a.m. - 4:45 p.m. JOB OVERVIEW: The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating, leading, and executing all aspects of the production process and Team, working closely with Planning, Testing, and Quality to meet business objectives. This position will have +3 direct reports including production supervisors. BASIC FUNCTIONS, BUT NOT LIMITED:
- Manage production supervisors; set job priorities and job assignments; track and report labor, provide performance reviews and corrective actions, hold employees accountable to Quality System, Process and Test procedures, product specifications, and company policies
- Coordinate production priorities with Planner, Test, and Stock Room Team Leader, report material and capacity issues
- Measure and drive team throughput; tracks work order status - Set productivity expectations and measures output
- Provide daily report-outs on job status, issues, and necessary corrective actions
- Drives continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives; lead/champion productivity improvement initiatives.
- Manages and maintains excellent shop floor housekeeping and FOD management through 5S process.
- Track, analyze, and drive initiatives to reduce production rework and lower scrap
- Assign and supervise MRP rework to maintain near zero balance
- Collect and process shop floor scrap through Quality Engineer
- Create Training Plans for new employees. Train new employees in basic shop floor processes and procedures; provide on-going training to the existing team, maintain training logs - facilitate and document cross training.
- Uses MRP System to generate reports, status Work Orders, Customer Orders, Stock & Parts
- Develop/maintain manufacturing routers and work instructions, in conjunction with the Manufacturing Engineers.
- Analyze workmanship issues, drive to root cause and document corrective action
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent. 5 years' experience in Operations, including 3 years' supervising personnel.
- 3 years minimum experience in electronics assembly production environment
- Prior Aerospace/Defense industry experience preferred
- Read/Write Fluently in English. Spanish speaking a plus
- Must have prior experience leading Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement initiative; demonstrated experience and certification with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S
- Needs to be an effective communicator, credible and decisive, possess team building skills
- Must be well-organized, flexible, and able to work in a fast paced, manufacturing environment
- Must have analytical skills and demonstrated RCCA implementation experience
- Comfortable using MS Office software suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and MSWord.
- Sustained dependable attendance.
- Cooperation with others in team environment for cross training and conference on operational issues.
- Initiative in learning and changing work methods to accomplish assigned tasks on a timely basis.
- Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies is preferred
