DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Special Assistant to the Director within the Bureau of Fire Relief Audits, you will provide technical support to the bureau Director and Assistant Director through a combination of project management, writing and editing, research, report development and monitoring, and quantitative and qualitative analysis of operational activities. You will also facilitate and coordinate operational activities such as briefing and training materials, proofing, recommending operational changes and improvements, and facilitating internal and external communication.
Specific duties will entail:
Maintaining expertise in audit-related policy and program information. Performing maintenance and revisions of audit report templates, files, and all separate Word and Excel documents. Performing maintenance and revisions of the workpaper (WP) template and sending out file updates to staff. Designing and implementing an operational production reporting program to support the Director and Assistant Director in overseeing bureau operations. Coordinating and assisting in the maintenance and revisions of bureau policies and procedures. Assisting the Assistant Director with audit plan processes, as directed. Preparing PowerPoints needed for training and other speaking engagements, as directed. Assisting in the development and presentation of trainings. Preparing audit-related correspondence, as needed, at the direction of the Director or Assistant Director. Assisting, as directed, in the review of audit reports to ensure audits are conducted in accordance with department audit manual and bureau policies and procedures.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Occasional travel to auditee sites is required.
- Telework: This position is home headquartered. You will be expected to work from home (telework) full-time. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Degree from accredited college or university with at least 12 credits in accounting/auditing; or
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- At least five years of auditing experience.
- Managerial experience
- One or more of the following certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP)
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
