The ERP HR / Payroll Business Analyst is responsible for maintaining the Human Resources and Payroll modules within the company's ERP system. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, managing employee data, and supporting HR /Payroll functions. Builds project plans, ensures alignment to project schedules and can work effectively with peers to set technology priorities and conduct long-term planning.

This position can be located in any of the following locations: Bend, OR - Portland, OR - Billings, MT - Boise, ID - Bismarck, ND - Sioux Falls, SD or near a Knife River location.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Requires knowledge of business systems and processes at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in software package configuration, installation, integration and maintenance.
  • Experience with construction software or related construction field work. Working on things such as HR, Payroll processing and other reporting capabilities.
  • Level I, II, or Sr. will depend on experience/skills/education.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience in payroll processing and HR administration.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly in HR and Payroll modules.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Certified Payroll and equipment usage expensing.


Duties and/or Responsibilities:



  • Maintain aforementioned software with proper patches, version upgrades and modules following corporate policies and procedures.
  • Work with software vendor support to address bugs in package code.
  • Coordinate the integration of Line of Business or point solutions applications into the corporate ERP system.
  • Provide specialized application and technical support for the ERP system.
  • Ensure all modifications and or corrective software has been fully tested and documented following corporate policies and procedures.
  • Produce and maintain documentation on all systems.
  • Remain technically competent by constantly expanding technology knowledge base via approved classes or tutorial textbooks concerning hardware, software and network operating systems. Prepare and present findings on new knowledge involving technology-related issues to other members of the IT Team.
  • Participates in business process review and re-engineering efforts to enhance business processes
  • Work independently with users, internal IT resources, and software package vendors to automate or enhance business processes.
  • Develop business requirements, technical specifications, test plans, and training plans to ensure technology projects are in line with business objectives.
  • Participate in root cause analysis in order to recommend product enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the business and IT.
  • May act as a project manager on some projects.
  • Designs, develops and delivers end training and support for end user.
  • Responsible for identification and integration of data security measures.
  • Travel to subsidiary companies for application implementations and support will be required.
  • Available to assist with scheduled on-call support and technical emergencies as required.
  • Uses functional expertise of business applications and business processes to formulate solutions to meet internal customer needs. Performs analysis and provides guidance related to the redesign of business processes, while ensuring operational efficiencies and excellence.






              1. Work with HR and Payroll teams to develop and implement new and improved payroll practices and processes that align with the overarching business goals and financial requirements.
              2. Perform other duties as assigned.

              • Ability to identify problems, in a timely manner, for systems utilized by a diverse customer/user base.
