Job Description

Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University

We are seeking a Palliative Care/Supportive Oncology Physician to join our team at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. This full-time position provides comprehensive supportive care to patients in both the outpatient setting at our Center City and Methodist locations and within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver longitudinal supportive care and consultation for patients within the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center through an embedded outpatient practice.
  • Provide inpatient palliative care consultation services, supporting symptom management, pain control, and quality of life.
  • Facilitate clarification of patient and family goals of care and assist with complex decision-making.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Coordinate access to supportive care services, ensuring comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Educate medical staff, colleagues, and trainees on best practices in palliative and supportive oncology care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation to support professional billing and continuity of care.
  • Participate in on-call coverage with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to review active cases and enhance patient care.
  • Assist in the development of standards of care for palliative and supportive oncology services.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff, and organizational matters.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Hospice & Palliative Medicine.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Active state medical license, in good standing with the medical board.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care.
