Title: Senior Business Analyst - CTS

$80,000 - $100,000 / Posted Thru: 3/6/25

Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live and Work in Michigan

Occasional In-Person Work Required

Purpose: Work on small to medium Information Technology (IT) projects to implement automated solutions and/or assess IT systems. The Senior Business Analyst will work under the supervision of the Business Analyst Manager, Systems Development and will be assigned to technology implementation or assessment projects, most often in public healthcare and government settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Elicit and Document Business, Functional, and Technical Requirements.



  • Work closely with the client to develop succinct user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Recommend proposed solutions to business problems and processes.
  • Be aware of budget allocated to the project.
  • Responsible for and takes ownership of documenting and updating user stories in Azure DevOps.



Responsible for creation of additional documentation for projects.



  • Create User Manual, as necessary based on the project.
  • Process Diagrams and Business Flows.
  • Create the Application Profile.
  • Create the ORIC Data Elements Checklist.
  • Create the EPL System Project Record.



Assist in Project Scope Management and Client Management.



  • Maintain the backlog at an average of ~160 development hours (larger projects).
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager and CTS Management, this position serves as a client point of contact.
  • Assist in ensuring project flow chart is followed.



Lead Technical Review of Requirements



  • Review requirements with developers; revise requirements based on feedback.
  • Collect effort estimates for user stories; communicate and coordinate with Project Manager on any effort estimate changes as a result of technical review.
  • Review with QA tester to ensure user stories are testable.



Gain Client Acceptance.



  • Communicate with client to send and explain (as needed) finalized requirements.
  • Facilitate proposed functionality demos.
  • Work through iterations until client accepts.



Participate in Sprint Planning and Standups.



  • Provide accurate statuses.
  • Ensure Business Analyst work is tracked in Azure Dev Ops.
  • Lead stand-ups when needed. Ensure progress and accountability from project team.



Perform QA Testing.



  • Beta Testing - Creation and execution of test plans as directed by QA Test Analyst.
  • Serve in testing role on smaller projects, as assigned.



Coordinate UAT Testing with the Client.



  • Triage bugs and enhancement requests using Azure DevOps as tracking tool.
  • Provide detailed testing instructions if necessary.
  • Answer client questions as needed.
  • Work with PM to define schedule; follow up with client to ensure schedule is met.
  • Work through iterations until client accepts.



Demonstrate a full understanding of the project and business process (big picture).



  • Lead assigned projects in coordination with Project Manager and Technical Lead.
  • Ensure MPHI standards are met, and processes are followed.
  • Direct project team and clients to ensure optimal results.
  • Provide user training and demonstrations on the application, as needed.
  • Work with the client to identify gaps in process and recommending new enhancements.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members to project.



Perform Project Manager duties as required per the project.



  • Assist with schedule making as needed.
  • Monitor budget to keep project spending in line.



Assist in business development as a main point of contact with the client.



  • Complete structural analysis and design for new business development.
  • Complete needs assessments to facilitate design.
  • Assist in Proposal creation based on structural analysis and needs assessments.
  • Always represent the best interests of MPHI.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in information technology, business, public health, or another analysis-oriented field is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of work experience in IT business analysis is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: MPHI is a standard office environment. May require viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. May require a valid vehicle operator's license. May require moderate physical effort, including lifting materials up to 50 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: Business analysts have extended direct contact with customers. They function as subject matter experts and/or are responsible for the delivery of clear and useful deliverables. The quality of the work and the professionalism exhibited by the business analyst directly affects the reputation and perceived value of MPHI's services.
