POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Finance, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the Clearway Health (CH) Accounting Department whose activities include, but not limited to, Financial Reporting, A/R, A/P, Capital and Cash management. CH Accounting Department is responsible for accurate and timely issuance of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and for coordinating and facilitating the completion of audits. Oversees month-end close general ledger closing, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation. Follows established policies and procedures to maintain integrity of general ledger and financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Key member of the CH Management team with matrix responsibilities to BMC accounting leadership. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Responsible for the coordination and control of activities related to General Accounting and Research Accounting, including all issues related to reconciliations, compliance, audits, reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage and continuously improve the month-end closing process to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements. This includes reviewing and approving journal entries, monitoring subsystem close timelines, resolving closing issues, and reducing manual tasks
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring accurate data analysis, rigorous reconciliations, and proper accounting treatment throughout all reporting processes
- Oversee internal controls, audit coordination, and reconciliation processes to ensure accurate financial reporting. This includes liaising with departments to gather audit information, supervising the timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and ensuring prompt resolution of discrepancies.
- Apply and oversee ASC606 Revenue Recognition standards by reviewing revenue streams, ensuring compliance with updated guidelines, and integrating revenue recognition processes into monthly and quarterly financial reporting
- Manage capital spending accounting for WIP/ JIP (works in progress/ jobs in progress). Determine and manage the closing final fixed asset account(s) with appropriate useful lives.
- Responsible for various tax returns filing (IRS Form 990, 990-T, 1120-F, 4720 as well as various state tax returns) for Clearway Health LLC (CH LLC).
- Develop and manage process to reconcile AR and cash accounts on the general ledger.
- Collaborate with the Financial Information System (FIS) and Treasury departments to establish accounting structures, procedures and financial reporting for new entities that are part of the consolidated financial statements.
- Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to streamline intercompany processes and ensure proper accounting of intercompany transactions.
- Prepare monthly variance analyses and follow up with appropriate stakeholders for further explanation of variances, if needed.
- Monitor the control of cash receipts and analysis of other receivables.
- Keep current on new Accounting Pronouncements. Responsible for researching accounting guidelines and interpreting rules for accounting questions that arise.
- Communicate with Leadership regarding areas of exposure within the Accounting department, as well as other Fiscal Services areas.
- Enhance professional knowledge by attending seminars related to healthcare and accounting.
- Oversee special projects and other duties as assigned. * Mentor and provide ongoing guidance and training of remote staff. * Utilize CH LLC Values as the basis for decision-making.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required with a focus on Accounting, Business Management or Finance preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required and in good standing.
EXPERIENCE: Requires a minimum of eight 8+ years financial/accounting experience, with minimum of 3+ year's progressive experience managing or supervising direct reports.. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Leadership ability to guide, direct and mentor remote staff and work effectively as a team member.
- Requires strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASC606 Revenue Recognition principles and the ability to implement related processes within financial reporting.
- Skills in determining needs, gathering, analyzing and presenting data to provide accurate and timely information for management's use.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Work requires superior Excel and General Ledger System knowledge (Infor preferred, but not required), and ERP systems.
- Work requires ability to function in a fast-paced environment
- Must be willing to work additional/flexible hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
