Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for data management and analysis in the Division of Student Affairs will work with the Student Affairs Assessment and Data Manager to create and maintain reports (including but not limited to identifying datasets, using Power Query to prepare the data, and creating impactful visuals) to improve decision-making, programs, and services. Establishing good working relationships with SAIT, EDA, and data management partnerships across Student Affairs and ISU is critical to this work, especially concerning improving and streamlining division practices. The GA is primarily responsible for developing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI. Further, the GA will support staff using the platform to enhance their work and decision-making.

Responsibilities:
* Develop reports in Microsoft Power BI and support Student Affairs staff use of the platform. (75%)
* Work with Enterprise & Data Analytics and Student Affairs IT to expand SA data sharing with the data warehouse (IBM Cognos) and streamline data transfers as well as create useful exports and dashboards for Student Affairs staff to make more informed decisions. (10%)
* Work with Divisional staff and the Assessment Team to identify reporting and analysis priorities that support the current emphasized strategic initiatives. (5%)
* Analyze and report on data for a broad range of assessment and evaluation efforts supporting Student Affairs programming and services. (5%)
* Leverage data to enhance unit operations that facilitates real-time decision-making supporting departmental and divisional goals. (2.5%)
* Partner with business and data analysts embedded in Student Affairs departments to improve and streamline division practices. (2.5%)


Additional Information

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs is seeking a graduate assistant for data management and analysis to create and maintain reports in Microsoft Power BI. The GA will work with Student Affairs departments to identify data, partner with SA IT & EDW to prepare data and problem solve, work independently to prepare reports, and collaborate with department staff to finalize reports and dashboards.


Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$755 for 0.25 FTE appointment; $1510 for 0.5 FTE appointment


Required Qualifications

2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following programs: MBA, Technology - Quality Management & Analytics, Project Management or Stats/Accounting for data science
