Server Strategy & Planning Manager

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced, analytical leader to help drive our server business unit strategy. The role is responsible for server strategy modeling and analysis which will directly support and inform decision making across the Board of Directors, CEO staff, server staff and other strategic decision-making forums. The strategic modeling and analytics function will have ownership for the end-to-end process of identifying relevant internal and external data sources, implementing model structural design and sensitivity, and maintain analysis as current. The role is expected to coordinate effectively and efficiently with other strategy team members and more broadly across the server staff to aggregate the ideas, develop analytics hypotheses, and create visual presentations of results. Additionally, the role is expected to further develop and apply their own subject matter expertise on the data center market and our business unit strategy in development and review of data analytics. This is a leadership position within a matrixed organization requiring excellent communication and coordination skills to lead across the product, sales, and marketing organizations. Success in the role will be measured on the effectiveness of content to reinforce confidence and/or drive required changes in our strategic initiatives and on the efficiency of meeting decision-making timelines.

  • Experience developing complex data analysis in fast-paced industry requiring rapid response to changes.
  • Comfortable with significant level of ambiguity in problem statements and assignments requiring individual creativity to synthesize data and create applicable analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience leading in a matrixed organization to coordinate programs and initiatives that utilize the skills of resources both inside and outside of your own team.
  • Technical competence and understanding of semiconductor, server systems, and enterprise software ecosystems applicable to the data center market.
  • Experience engaging with industry and financial analysts to substantiate internal hypothesis on market and product trends.
  • Effective presenting to different range of audiences including analysts, internal engineering teams, and business / partner executives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute quarterly process to incorporate market inputs into established TAM / SAM model infrastructure to publish detailed forecasts for the server CPU market
  • Lead and execute the annual Server BU Long Range Planning process in partnership with Server leadership, Segment teams and Product Teams.
  • Improve TAM / SAM model infrastructure to reduce time required to produce forecasts and improve explainability of changes in the market to the server business segments
  • Manage cross functional teams (product, sales, marketing) to develop data driven analysis and conclusions for server market sizing and TAM/SAM analysis.
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders to improve efficiencies related to the development, review, and approval of market trends and customer account TAM.
  • Partner effectively to drive creative thinking and problem solving that translates into actionable, market directed initiatives for the business unit to achieve its goals.
  • Provide feedback to help the server business unit develop improved processes, market understanding, clear strategic priorities, and actionable plans.

Preferred Experience:

  • Industry Experience: An established background in the data center market with relevant industry and analyst relationships.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven success of implementing change in a matrixed organization through communication of problem statements and applicable solutions.
  • Functional Experience: Experience as an investment banker or management consultant focused on the technology industry or as a technology industry strategic product or marketing leader responsible for analytical analysis for product, business, and sales decision making.
  • Problem Solving Experience: Strong problem solving, logical reasoning skills and analysis experience with solving business problems (commercial, operational, organizational); Financial and Operational analytics background preferred
  • Modeling & Analytics Expertise: Subject matter expert (SME) in Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 products, with experience telling a story by building sophisticated models using pivot tables, VLOOKUP and other advanced Excel techniques; Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, SQL, or other analytics platforms a plus

Education:

Relevant technical or business degree; MBA is preferred.
