~50% CLINICAL PRACTICE

Each rehabilitation team member provides services according to the laws of the State of Ohio governing licensed professionals; standards of practice, scope of practice, clinical guidelines, and codes of ethics published by respective national professional associations; and OSUMC policies and procedures governing the work of licensed clinical professionals. All staff must meet standards established by the Rehab Division as part of the OSUMC performance appraisal system (P3). Core competencies include Inclusiveness, Determination, Empathy, Sincerity, Ownership, and Innovation. These core areas are integral to successful clinical practice. Provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent disabilities/disorders of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Treats patients within scope of practice regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation in one of the following categories: speech pathology, physical therapy and/or occupational therapy. Treatment sessions may be conducted in individual sessions with one or more practitioners, in groups of patients with similar or diverse skill levels, or within groupings of patients who focus on individual goals but participate in care within general treatment areas. Site of care may be the patient care unit, designated team or skill-classified treatment areas (functional and sport specific treatment site or therapeutic exercise areas), other locations within the medical center, or in the community. Professionals use a wide variety of approaches treatment, consistent with the individual needs of persons served, their families, and caregivers. Approaches include: "salient factors" - those key issues that must be addressed to achieve the established discharge plan; use of clinical pathways, algorithms, and clinical guidelines; use of specific protocols to address component functions or skills established within the Rehabilitation Plan of Care. Each practitioner within the patient care team is responsible for assuring a continuity of care among team members. Conducts education, training and support sessions that focus on physical or other specified skills. Patient care is delegated in accordance with department policy, which reflects the laws and rules of applicable state practice acts. Ensures documentation requirements and format are performed according to policies and procedures established within the designated rehab department and follow the Standards of Practice Guidelines established by national professional associations. Follows and adheres to productivity expectations, which are established in support of the departments budgeted fiscal responsibility and are defined in the departments policy and procedure manual. Performs team activities such as scheduling, daily care planning, participating in structured rounds with physicians and nursing staff, patient care conferences, family conferences, internal continuing education sessions, team and divisional business meetings, and committee participation.

~50% ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisor Responsibilities: Will be responsible for patient flow on work team. Is on call for staff call offs. Monitors quality metrics in program. Acts as a resource for direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff in the designated rehabilitation service area and/or program. Monitors and reviews progress and accuracy of work. Assists the Rehab Services Director with personnel related functions including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluations and schedules. May assist in the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures. Acts as a lead for complex projects, assignments, procedures and issues related to a specific rehabilitation service area and/or program. Participates in staff meetings to review new techniques, explain procedural changes, discuss problems, and exchange information on a regular basis. Will assist Rehab Services Director with scheduling clinical orientation for all new clinical staff members; educate on clinical standards, policies, and procedures within the rehabilitation area and/or program. Will communicate at least monthly feedback to management concerning status of training, level of proficiency and issues of concern.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited school or equivalent combination of education or experience. Currently licensed in the state of Ohio as a Physical Therapist. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
